Run for the Cure 2010

October 3, 2010

This morning Dave and I hurled ourselves out of bed early on a Sunday to take part in the CIBC Run for a Cure. This was the second year in a row that I’ve taken part in this event. Only this year I had a partner. I was really relieved to have a nice easy run today. I was concerned because usually my lungs feel like their on fire when it gets too cold out and this morning we woke up to a temperature of 2 degrees Celsius.

I love taking part in events like the Run for the Cure. The non-competitive environment is a nice break from some other organized races. As a penguin, I mostly keep to the back of the pack in order to keep my distance from some of the hard-core runners. You know the ones – they think I’m not really a runner because I take walk breaks. Instead this race is always a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. If there is anyone who ever wanted to try out a 5k but doesn’t like the idea of other people watching them run – this event is for them. Keeping with the tradition, Dave, Sean and I went out for all you can eat sushi after the race. Yum!

Have a great race Ashley! I’m jealous that you have a whole group of friends who will participate in this type of event!
