Avoid Hitting the Wall Scientifically

I read an interesting article this morning about an A-type engineering PHD candidate and brain-surgeon wannabe who has come up with a formula for the amount of carbo-loading you need before your next race. There is a link to his mathematical formula, which in theory tells you the best time you could accomplish with the right carb-combination. You enter your weight, age, resting heart beat and target marathon time. Although I suspect this was developed for other A-type sub-4-hour marathoners I put in my stats and a target finish time of 6-hours. This is what I learnt:
