Chikanishing Trail in the Springtime

April 8, 2012

Beautiful springtime weather — blue skies and 14C — brought me out to Killarney Provincial Park on a fine Saturday afternoon. We chose to hike the Chikanishing Trail which winds along the park’s southern boundary along Georgian Bay. A nice springtime hike with pine trees and the bay as the background instead of trees with no “real leaves” yet, as I call it. The water’s edge was quite sandy – a great place to swim in the summer! A short-length (~1.5 hours) rocky trail was a nice start to the season and the beginning of my volcano hiking training. Less than one month to go and I’ll be standing on the rincon de la vieja volcano.

In Killarney Provincial Park in northern ontario, a short-ish drive from my place.
      My go-to hiking spot!
