A Letter to the Race Director

October 7, 2013

Someone needs to be the voice of the weekend warriors. The XL t-shirt requesters. The marathon walkers. The runners that come in 2nd last place every race but get out there and pound the pavement anyways.  They are the ones that raise money for charity and high five children along the course. They are the ones that are trying to get healthy. They are the ones that are most likely to be struggling. They are the ones that need to have water and electrolytes along the longer race courses and a supply of bananas at the finish line hours after the high-level athletes have taken their medals and left. They are the ones that need a metal for participating because crossing that finish line was a huge accomplishment. They will keep their medal, cherish it, and display it proudly. They will be the ones promoting your event because this wasn’t just any Sunday. This was their Sunday.

Someone needs to be the voice for me.
